Though Nadja mastermind Aiden Baker has released many new and re-recorded ethereal drone/doom movements, quantity doesn’t always equal quality. His latest follows suit.
Baker’s not interested in simply reworking the thundering, lurching drums and impenetrable walls of beauty and dissonance reminiscent of Jesu. This disc replaces the often suffocating atmosphere he so easily creates with lighter, almost jazzy moments and dense psychedelia.
The overall effect leads you closer to uneasiness than to catharsis.
