Rap radio reunion

CKLN’s 1-4 p.m. Saturday timeslot has been holding it down as the city’s most reliable source of hip-hop for some 28 years.

Week after week, those three hours have been a haven for quality rap music, starting with the show The Fantastic Voyage, which would be succeeded by The Power Move Show, The Real Frequency, and finally, Mixtape Massacre.

On Saturday, February 12, for the first time ever, the staff of all four programs united at the embattled radio station for a historic broadcast. The show is captured in 1 to 4, a new documentary short produced by Celine Wong and Wavel Edwards.

The piece features interviews with Michie Mee, Ron Nelson, DJ X, and Thrust, and more. 1 to 4 not only tells the story of that locally renowned timeslot, but Toronto hip-hop at large.
