Robbery hell

It’s always a tough obstacle when a band is the victim of theft while on tour. Even worse when they’re a long way from home.[briefbreak]

This morning, veteran Canadian folk-rock outfit The Burning Hell awoke in Lodz, Poland to find the windows of their tour van smashed in.

They posted a picture of the van to Facebook, along with a caption explaining what happened:

“So, last night in Lodz, Poland our van got broken into. Everyone is okay, and all of our gear is intact, but they stole all of our money to pay for tour expenses.”

Tonight’s show in Berlin will be the final date on the band’s expansive European tour. They’re scheduled to return to Canada tomorrow for a tour that includes a July 29 date at the Tranzac in Toronto.

No word yet if those dates are in jeopardy, but the band has set up a Paypal account for fans to “help us get back home safely.” If you want to donate to the cause, you can do so here.

If there’s a silver lining, it’s that this will probably serve as excellent fodder for their next album. Their latest, Flux Capacitor, is Burning Hell leader Mathias Kom’s first foray into overtly autobiographical songwriting, and there’s no telling what his acerbic wit could do with this incident.
