Toronto’s Small Sins specialize in producing neat and tidy, heartfelt electro-?pop that’s one part Postal Service and one part Fleetwood Mac. On disc they sound almost delicate and subdued, but live they amp up their guitars and pack a decisively more power-?pop punch.
After dropping their second LP, Mood Swings, on Astralwerks (Hot Chip, Digitalism) last fall and recently having their video for On The Line featured on YouTube, prolific frontman Thom D’Arcy is already looking ahead to record number three. “I really want to be one of those guys who puts out a new record every year,” he says, recounting a recent trip to Chicago to mix 11 brand new songs (that may or may not make the cut).
Either way, D’Arcy will have plenty of time this summer to write and record while bandmate Todor Kobakov joins Metric for a massive tour. If we’re lucky, the Sins might bust out some new material or treat the audience to their brilliant cover of Hefner’s downtrodden classic I Took Her Love For Granted.
