THE GREEN HOUR BAND

Rating: NNN

This Vancouver-based quartet reveres all things classic garage and psychedelic rock (that’s about all you get on their debut album), and a fan of those genres would want any new band (these bohemians have only been at it for a year) to do their best to stay true to the nuances and spirit of the sound.

Luckily for these guys, that quality is apparent here. From the superbly organic production that captures the band’s restless energy to the vintage gear they use for authenticity, these guys wouldn’t seem too far out of place in a Nuggets box. Often loud and abrasive in that erratic proto-punk garage style, the Green Hour Band is as genuine as you’d hope.

The Green Hour Band play the Gladstone Friday (June 13) at 10 pm.
