VIBE A new joint from the people behind the now-defunct Cobalt (just a few doors down). The programming is fairly eclectic at the moment, with a live band one night, indie rock DJs or a full-on dance party the next. The feel is kind of like a hip little hole-in-the-wall, but without the grime.
VALUE Depending on the night, there may be a cover charge, but it’s unlikely to be more than $5. A domestic beer will run you $4.
BATHROOMS Small enough that on busy nights they tend to become uni-sex and you may have to wait in line. Careful not to bump your head walking back to the bar, like I did (repeatedly).
FINDING THE DOOR It’s not the easiest place to find, but that’s probably the point. It’s underneath the College Street Diner, and the main entrance is in the back, through the gate to the patio and down the stairs. It’s run by the same people as the diner, so you can always ask them if you get lost.
