TROUBLE ANDREW Thursday, 5 pm, at Yonge-Dundas Square. Rating: NNN
On a bill stacked with greying punk rockers, Trouble Andrew didn’t have to do much to stand out: just having synths and laptops onstage alongside the requisite guitar amps and drums made him seem hyper-modern in comparison with acts like Slaves On Dope and Bad Religion.
However, his live show is much more punk rock and guitar-heavy than his recordings, so on a sonic level he fit the bill more than you might have predicted.
While acknowledging that he was very tired, he still put on a relatively energetic show. However, it was obvious that the crowd weren’t there to see him, and he struggled to get much of a reaction out of them.
