The three-day Toronto Urban Roots Festival is changing things up in its third year: moving from early July to September 18-20. Artistic director Jeff Cohen cites the occupation of downtown by the Pan Am and Parapan Games this July as a good reason to try out the fall.
We’ve thought of some additional ones: more students in town, less competition from the multitude of 2015 summer music fests, and the likelihood of cooler temperatures. Hopefully drier, too. If you recall, 2013’s TURF was a bit of a, well, washout.
The first set of programming announcements comes Monday (April 20), and tickets go on sale April 23, starting at $150. The roots music fest takes place at Fort York Commons.
