Wolf Parade ends

If you weren’t at Wolf Parade’s Toronto show on Friday, you may not have a chance to see them for a good, long time. Towards the end of their Sound Academy show, co-leader Spencer Krug announced that it was “the last show we’ll play for a long time.”

Unfortunately for those hoping it was just a Broken Social Scene-esque prank, an official Wolf Parade fansite reports the following:

“It does not come easy for me to post this news. Dan Boeckner has contacted us and stated that Wolf Parade will be taking an ‘indefinite hiatus’.”

For anyone following Krug and Boeckner, the news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. With more and more effort put into their respective side projects (and now their main vehicles) Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs, the songwriting pair already seemed to be devoting less priority to Wolf Parade.

Whether this is a permanent breakup or just an extended pause has yet to be seen. The wording seems to have been left purposely vague. The band’s promotional manager tells us she’s waiting on official word herself, but we’ll let you know if there are any updates.
