WYCLEF JEAN

WYCLEF JEAN The Preacher’s Son ( J/BMG ) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

The novelty of Wyclef the guitar-playing eclectic might have worn off long ago, but the former Fugee still has a Rolodex that would be the envy of most pop stars. The Preacher’s Son includes appearances from Santana, members of U2, Missy Elliott, Patti LaBelle, Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton and more. The Preacher’s Son might be the first example of adult contemporary, easy listening hiphop. So watered down is his music, with novelty salsa and dancehall bits tossed into the mix for laughs, that Clef remains one of the few musicians who could make Redman and Elephant Man guest raps boring.
