The Toronto Blue Jays are rolling at exactly the right time.
A 6-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday gave the Jays their third straight victory over Boston and secured Toronto’s fifth consecutive series win.
And they’re not done yet. The Jays have a chance to complete a four-game sweep of the Red Sox on Thursday, and Toronto fans are already fired up about the team’s late-season run.
But what about that Cubs loss?
There is one wrinkle in Toronto’s five-series streak: the Jays lost to the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 6.
That game, however, was not originally part of Toronto’s August schedule. It was the makeup of a June 21 series finale in Chicago that had been postponed because of forecasted inclement weather.
So while the loss technically occurred between Toronto’s series against Houston and Philadelphia, the game belonged to the earlier Cubs matchup, prompting the Blue Jays themselves to have some fun with the technicality on social media.
Toronto’s five-series winning run includes series victories over the Washington Nationals, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, and now the Boston Red Sox.

Ahead of Thursday’s final game in the Jays and Red Sox’s four-game matchup, Toronto fans were feeling the excitement on social media.
“I always knew they could turn it around no matter how frustrated I got… A strong stretch here will REALLY set us up well for September, bang!” one fan on X wrote. “[Thursday] we sweep, hopefully!”
Other fans shared the good vibes, commenting on how fun the current season has been.
“That game was so exciting to see, and once we start cooking like this, it’s hard to put out. I’m so invested in this push,” another fan on X said.
With a full team on the roster during Wednesday’s game, fans were impressed with how the game was played.
“Really impressed with Gimenez and Straw as of late. Their bats have really woken up and become clutch. Special mentions to McAdoo and Bateman as well, they seem to be fitting in nicely,” one fan wrote on Facebook.
Another fan joined in on the hype, saying this is how the game is meant to be played.
“This is like watching a suspense TV series!!! Each night reintroduces our Great Blue Jays in a different light… Another electrifying game!!! Keep it coming boys, you are all amazing!”
Toronto now has a chance to turn another series victory into something even sweeter: a four-game sweep.
A win Thursday would give the Jays four straight victories over Boston while handing the Red Sox their sixth consecutive loss, adding even more momentum to Toronto’s push toward September.
