Canada Day has finally arrived, bringing fireworks, celebrations and a well-deserved day off for many. While there are plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday, it’s also important to know what will be open before heading out.
From shopping malls and attractions to transit, government services and grocery stores, here’s what you need to know about what’s open and closed across Toronto on Canada Day.
Banks
All major banks will be closed.
Libraries
All Toronto Public Library branches will be closed.
Government buildings
Government offices and buildings will be closed.
LCBO
All LCBO stores will be closed.
Transit
The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule, while GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.
Attractions
Many of Toronto’s most popular attractions will remain open on Canada Day, including:
- CN Tower: 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Toronto Zoo: 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Casa Loma: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Royal Ontario Museum (ROM): 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO): 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Hockey Hall of Fame: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ontario Science Centre at Harbourfront Centre: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Canada’s Wonderland: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Splash Works: 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Riverdale Farm: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Malls
Most major shopping malls will be closed or operating on reduced holiday hours.
Open with reduced hours:
- CF Toronto Eaton Centre: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Closed:
- Scarborough Town Centre
- Dufferin Mall
- CF Fairview Mall
- CF Sherway Gardens
- Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Grocery stores
Some grocery stores, including select Rabba Fine Foods locations, will remain open. Shoppers are encouraged to check with their local grocery store for holiday hours before heading out.
