Critic Sprung

Rating: NNNNN

keith henson, the scientologyfoe arrested at gunpoint in an Oakville parking lot a couple weeks ago, has been released from jail by the same adjudicator who only last week determined that he posed a flight risk.Henson, who says he’s been receiving threats and is afraid to return to the U.S., has also been deemed eligible to apply for refugee status here.

The long-time Scientology critic was jailed after Scientology’s Toronto office called the cops to report that he is wanted in the U.S. on a misdemeanour charge related to picketing the group’s California compound.

As reported in NOW, much was made at a detention hearing last week by the immigration department’s lawyer about Henson being an explosives expert and threat to the public.

But on Thursday (June 7), the adjudicator granted Henson’s release after reading through court documents related to allegations that he had made “bomb threats” against Scientology. A $10,000 bond was put up for Henson’s release and a condition imposed that he stay a certain distance away from Scientology’s Toronto office.
