The Dirtbombs They’re Detroit garage rock legends, and the White Stripes probably wouldn’t have existed without them, but the Dirtbombs are still playing smaller club gigs, which is a much better setting to hear this kind of thing than stadiums. Catch them tonight at the Horseshoe. See listing.

Palestine Movie Night Here’s a chance to sit in Christie Pits Park at nightfall and watch docs on Palestinian rights. John Greyson, just back from the Canadian boat to Gaza, screens his Gaza Island, a short film about Freedom Flotilla 2. The main feature is Checkpoint Rock: Songs of Palestine by Javier Corcuera and Fermin Muguruza, a journey through Palestine guided by its most inspiring musicians. 9pm. Free. Christie Pits. tpff.ca

Midi Onodera Presented by the AGO and the Reel Asian Film Festival, Thirty Years: The Moving Image Art Of Midi Onodera is a screening and launch of a 4-DVD set of the Japanese-Canadian artist’s work, from pioneering Super 8 films to recent videos designed to be shown on mobile devices. Scholars introduce screenings, and Onodera’s on hand to answer questions. At Jackman Hall, AGO. See listing.
