Film

B-Movie Festival The Bloor Cinema presents a double bill of creepy 1970s horror flicks, curated by Fangoria’s Chris Alexander. At 7 pm, there’s The Norliss Tapes, starring Angie Dickinson, about a supernatural investigator who uncovers evil and at 9 pm there’s Dead Of Night, an anthology horror film. See listing here.

Canada’s Top 10 TIFF Bell Lightbox continues to screen the best of Canadian features, with Ingrid Veninger’s MODRA at 6:30 pm and Lixin Fan’s Last Train Home at 9 pm. We reviewed MODRA back at TIFF 2010 here and Last Train Home made Glenn Sumi’s Top 10 films of 2010 list. See listings here.

That’s What She Said Some of the best female comics in the country (Nikki Payne, Sandra Shamas, Dawn Whitwell and others) pool their talents to raise funds for Gilda’s Club, named after the late Gilda Radner. See listing here.

The Economics of Happiness Get yourself inspired by a doc by Helena Norberg-Hodge, Steven Gorelick & John Page on how all over the world, communities are learning to localize their economies and break free from the global grip. Art

Kai Chan The wall works and free-standing 3-D pieces in A Spider’s Logic, mostly made from thread and twigs by Chinese-born Toronto artist Chan, blur the boundaries between textiles and sculpture. Don’t miss the Textile Museum’s 30-retrospective. Also at the museum is a show of colourful molas (reverse appliqué panels) by the indigenous women of Kuna Yala, off the coast of Panama.
