City Council Showdown The final act in the long, awful core services drama plays out today as councillors debate, and hopefully reject, cuts recommended by the executive committee. The meeting starts at 9:30 am and at 5:30, a massive rally of labour and community groups takes over the square. See listing.

Caves Of Forgotten Dreams Both the Royal and the Revue screen Werner Herzog’s excellent film about the oldest recorded cave paintings. The theatres probably won’t be screening it in 3-D, however. See our original review and the current listing.
