Love The Future/Free Ai Weiwei Sean Martindale mounts his installation just as international pressure from the art world has succeeded in getting the Chinese government to release the artist/architect, who worked on the Beijing Olympics and filled the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall with ceramic sunflower seeds. Jailed since April as part of a crackdown on dissidents, Ai (hey people, Ai is his surname, Weiwei his first name) was released on bail last Sunday pending charges of tax evasion. As part of his installation, Martindale will post ongoing press clippings about Ai’s detention. See listing.

Community

The End of Suburbia Screening of the doc which inspired the Transition Movement – which organizes community-level solutions to the problem of oil depletion and global warming – takes place tonight, along with a talk by the filmmaker Greg Greene on the ability of flicks to change the world. 7 pm. $5.
