All the charged controversy over Toronto Hydro's incredible, zap-happy "handwells" probably won't end up drawing much attention to the fact the steel covers to the telephone lines, water works, sewers and gas pipes of our city are unlikely sources, too, of urban artistic expression.
Forged from steel decades ago, and burnished by rain, snow, and the rubber from tires of a city on the go, the grates mark our passing. They are art at our feet.
Take a look, if you don't believe me.
