Heads up GO Transit commuters, several lines will see major service changes this weekend.
Riders should plan ahead, as several service adjustments are scheduled across the network, including complete shutdowns of the Barrie Line and UP Express.
Metrolinx is advising GO Transit and UP Express customers of planned construction-related service changes taking effect on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26. Riders on affected routes are encouraged to check schedules before travelling.
Here’s a breakdown of the impacted routes:
Barrie Line
On Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, GO buses will replace Barrie Line trains at all stations except Downsview Park GO and Union Station due to planned construction.
Metrolinx says service will also be adjusted during the following week as crews complete residual construction work.
UP Express
There will be no UP Express train service on Saturday, July 25, or Sunday, July 26, due to planned construction.
On Saturday, replacement GO buses will operate directly between Union Station Bus Terminal and Pearson Airport Terminal 1.
On Sunday, from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., replacement buses will run between Highway 407 Bus Terminal and Pearson Airport Terminal 1 to accommodate the Gardiner Expressway closure for the Toronto Triathlon.
After 2 p.m. on Sunday, replacement buses will resume direct service between Union Station Bus Terminal and Pearson Airport Terminal 1.
Kitchener Line
Construction work will also affect Kitchener Line service throughout the weekend.
GO buses will replace trains between Stratford or Kitchener GO and Mount Pleasant GO stations, while GO trains will operate hourly between Mount Pleasant GO and Mount Dennis GO stations.
There will be no GO Transit service between Mount Dennis GO and Union Station during the closure.
Select GO buses will also operate between Stratford or Kitchener GO and Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
Some late-night service on Friday, July 24, will also be affected.
Regular Kitchener Line train service resumes on Monday, July 27, although some trips and schedules will remain adjusted through Tuesday, July 28.
Lakeshore East
On Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, Lakeshore East service will be adjusted due to planned construction.
Trains departing Durham College Oshawa GO will leave two minutes earlier than their regular scheduled departure times.
Metrolinx notes that Lakeshore West, Barrie and Kitchener line service, along with UP Express, will also be affected by construction this weekend.
Lakeshore West
On Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, some Lakeshore West trains will depart earlier than usual as crews continue construction at Exhibition Station for the future Ontario Line subway.
Passengers travelling on any affected route are encouraged to check schedules and allow for extra travel time before heading out this weekend.
