The Toronto Budget Hostel on Church is supposed to be a welcoming place for weary travellers.
Enter Stuard Griffett, a Canuck temporarily in from Hong Kong, where he teaches English.
There was a noisy drunk in his room, so Griffett decided to catch a few zzzs in the lounge. Bad move.
Someone told him it was against the rules. Words were exchanged. Griffett ended up being beaned on the head with a full can of cola.
He reported the incident to the cops and ended up cabbing it to his parents' home in Hamilton in the wee hours Wednesday.
Budget manager Rebecca Walsh sends her apologies.
She says Griffett wasn't the only one bugged that night.
Remember the drunk in his room?
Well, this fellow apparently also got into a tussle with Griffett's assailant.
Why didn't he get tossed? Walsh says the hostel is short-staffed.
Hostel no haven for this weary traveller
