International Women’s Day in Toronto

The theme for this year’s 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day in Toronto was ‘Our City, Our Services, Our Future!’

In speeches made pre-rally, aim was taken at Mayor-elect Rob Ford and city council to consider the magnitude of cutting services or funding that will directly affect essential services for women of diversity in our city and across the province. A large amount of support was also shown for recent uprisings in the Middle East, and not just for the women of those countries but also for their male allies. For 100 years women have celebrated this day of resistance, change and struggle for equality across the planet.
