as israeli reprisal attacks con-tinue against Palestinian targets in the Occupied Territories, four Jewish rabbis -- two from the Toronto area -- have signed an open letter condemning the demolition of Palestinian homes.Rabbi Daniel Komito-Gottlieb of Temple Kol Ami in Thornhill and Rabbi Larry Englander of Solel Congregation in Mississauga are two of the signatories.
The letter, which is being circulated by the Toronto Jewish Network for Social Justice, mentions that the Shawamreh family in the town of Anata, near Jerusalem, have had their home demolished three times so far this year. Ten neighbouring families have also lost their homes.
The letter calls on the Israeli government to stop the practice immediately as a confidence-building measure to pave the way for a resumption of peace talks. The Israeli embassy did not respond to a request for comment.
