Jack Layton commemorated in stone

A day before the one-year commemoration of the former NDP leader’s death at City Hall Wednesday, his family unveiled his headstone at the Toronto Necropolis cemetery.

Made of Laurentian pink granite from Quebec where Layton was born, the stone bears a quotation from the famous letter he wrote to Canadians on the eve of his death last summer. The likeness was carved by his widow, Olivia Chow.
