The annual May Day rally in celebration of International Worker’s Day in Toronto is decidedly tamer than in other countries. No trash bins were lit on fire and no cars were overturned, but the struggle for labour rights and equality was strong on May 1st. The march united people’s struggles for self-determination and liberation. Hundreds gathered to show their solidarity for migrant workers’ and indigenous people’s rights. The rally began at Allen Gardens before marching and taking over the intersection at Yonge and College.
