Need a ride to cast your ballot? Lime Canada is offering voters free rides on election day to help them get to the polls across parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Ontario.

Lime is a shared electric vehicle company that operates e-bikes and e-scooters across the GTA and other parts of Canada.

With municipal election day just five days away, the company says in a news release it is partnering with Apathy is Boring, a non-partisan, youth-led charitable organization, to help voters get to the polls.

Apathy is Boring works to engage and educate young people to become active participants in Canadian democracy.

According to Lime, voters can access two free 15-minute rides on election day by using the code VOTECAN26.

In the GTA, the promotion will be available in Mississauga, Vaughan and Ajax. Elsewhere in Ontario, voters can access the offer in Ottawa, Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.

The campaign is part of Lime’s Lime To The Polls initiative, which has offered free rides to polling stations around the world since 2018.

“Transportation should never prevent someone from making their voice heard at the polls,” said Rachel Rappaport, Lime Canada’s government relations lead, in a news release. “By offering free rides, Lime is helping Ontarians get to their polling stations easily and sustainably.”

Lime says the initiative aims to support voter participation while providing a sustainable transportation option for trips to and from polling stations.

The company is encouraging voters to check their municipality’s election website to confirm their polling location and ensure it falls within Lime’s service area.

Ontario’s municipal election day is Oct. 26.
