Now Toronto takes over TIFF 2026 with wall-to-wall coverage and media partnerships for ‘Run Terry Run’ and ‘Sunburn’

Now Toronto is teaming up with Elevation Pictures on two TIFF 2026 titles while expanding its festival coverage with interviews, reviews, red carpet moments and social-first content.

As the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) kicks off, Now Toronto has been announced an official media partner for Run Terry Run and Sunburn, as it expands its all-in coverage of one of the world’s greatest film events. 

TIFF’s 51st edition will take place from Sept. 10–20, marking the end of the summer with remarkable red carpets, movie premieres, and cultural moments across the city. 

As the festival officially kicks off, Now Toronto has been announced as an official media partner for some of TIFF’s most anticipated titles. 

The publication will be partnering with Elevation Pictures on Run Terry Run, a Canadian documentary that brings exclusive archival footage of Terry Fox’s iconic Marathon of Hope, bringing an intimate and unprecedented perspective of the moment that marked several Canadian generations. 

Now Toronto is also a partner for Sunburn. This Toronto-set, coming-of-age film follows a group of young people fighting to survive a heatwave and a blackout by using humour and forming meaningful connections in the city.

“We’re proud to champion Canadian stories while bringing our audiences closer to incredible international talent at one of the world’s biggest film festivals,” Gonez Media’s Chief Operating Officer Laura Reiter said in a news release.

‘A front-row seat to it all’

The film partnerships reflect a commitment across Now Toronto’s parent company Gonez Media to bring all-in coverage of the festival, with on-the-ground, meaningful multimedia content of the entire festival. 

Beyond red carpets and screenings, Now Toronto and The Brandon Gonez Show will bring talent interviews, community voices, and cultural conversations across TIFF, becoming one of the city’s go-to spots for festival content. 

On top of Now Toronto’s film partnerships, Gonez Media will feature the Now Toronto Interview Suite, with actors, filmmakers, and talent conversations led by acclaimed entertainment journalist Teri Hart in partnership with Belvedere Vodka. 

In addition, Now Toronto will feature a dedicated TIFF hub at nowtoronto.com, with all-encompassing festival news, interviews, film reviews, red carpet moments, and real-time coverage across its social channels.

The Brandon Gonez Show is also bringing its own signature voice into the festival, with candid-style interviews and social-first coverage across its platforms. 

 “TIFF is one of Canada’s biggest cultural moments, and this year we’re showing up bigger than ever,” Gonez Media’s Founder and CEO, Brandon Gonez, said in a news release. 

“We’re giving our audiences a front-row seat to it all.”

Uber contributes for extra coverage 

The organization also announced an extended partnership with Uber to boost up The Brandon Gonez Show’s TIFF coverage. The rideshare app brand plays an important role in the festival, acting as a frequent and reliable mode of transportation for its staff and festival goers. 

The internationally renowned brand is also showing up for TIFF by highlighting its partnership with Hope Air, the only national charity in Canada to offer free travel and accommodation for those in financial hardship to access medical care away from home.

Uber and Hope Air have been partners since 2022, when they launched Hope Rides, a program to connect patients and caregivers to reliable travel between accommodation and hospitals. 

The organizations expanded their collaboration in 2024, with Uber also supporting the Hope Meals program which helps patients and caregivers access meals while away from home. 

Highlighting this partnership, Uber is bringing attention to the organization and its important cause by utilizing its essential role and visibility at the festival.
