Ontario is reporting 3,945 new cases of COVID-19 – surpassing the 30,000 mark in the number of active cases in the province – and 61 deaths with 1,160 new cases in Toronto.
Toronto’s daily case count is now almost double the number for other regions in the GTA. Peel, the area with the next highest daily case count, is reporting 641 new cases.
Of the 61 deaths recorded today, 21 are long-term care residents. There have been 333 deaths in the past week. A total of 4,983 people have died from the virus.
The province completed 62,308 tests and administered 9,983 vaccinations in the past 24 hours.
A total of 113,246 vaccinations have been administered in the province. Some 5,884 people in Ontario have had their second vaccination.
There are now some 1,483 hospitalizations related to COVID-19. Of those, 388 are in intensive care and 266 on ventilators – up 22 from Saturday.
There have been 215,782 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario to date, including 180,720 resolved – up 2,496 from the day before.
