The Keith Lee effect is no laughing matter, at least according to one cafe and bakery that experienced it first-hand over the weekend.

“We are still in shock. A pinch me did this really happen kind of moment. The Keith Lee effect is very real,” Suzanne Smith, the founder of Biscuits to Baskets, told Now Toronto.

The cafe and bakery, located in Ajax, got the gift of a lifetime by having one of the biggest food critics on the internet not only try their food, but enjoy it.

Lee’s wife, Ronni, was clearly a big fan of the wide variety of cakes the establishment had to offer and to show their utmost appreciation, they tipped the owners $2,500.

In the taste testing video, Lee even shared a message Smith sent thanking him for choosing their shop and for leaving a tip, which meant a lot to her family.

The entire situation also made for a great early birthday present in which Lee wished Smith’s husband, Colter, a happy birthday following their encounter.

According to Smith, nothing has been the same since the visit.

“The lineups were crazy from 9:50 a.m. until 3 p.m. We sold out of everything. We are super grateful for this to happen to our home based business and are really excited to see new friends that choose to come check us out,” Smith said.

Dealing with the demand took a village, and luckily that’s exactly what they had.

“We are more than grateful to our family who came together to help us out on Sunday, my daughter Victoria is our manager for helping things run smoothly lol and more so now. My son Andrew has been the success behind Backyard Brew and the Korean Sponge Toffee Latte, he helped make this part of Biscuits To Baskets a dream come true. My incredible husband Colter for being my rock and helping with baking plus running the shop. Plus my mom (Baba) — without her our ship would not exist,” Smith shared.
