Delta plane crashes at Toronto Pearson airport, multiple injuries reported. Here’s everything we know so far

Multiple people have injuries after a plane crash at Toronto Pearson Airport Monday afternoon.

In a post on X, Pearson said it is aware of an incident involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis, MN.

“Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for,” the post said.

Delta has not confirmed the cause of the crash.

Video footage from the scene shows the plane flipped over on its roof on the tarmac at Pearson airport. Multiple injuries have been reported, and three passengers in critical condition, including one child, have been airlifted to hospital, according to reports.

Delta Airlines confirmed that 80 passengers were on board at the time of the single-aircraft accident – 76 passengers and four crew members.

“Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted,” the airline said in an online statement.

Peel Regional Police said they are providing support for the ongoing incident at the airport in a post on X. 

Canadian Minister of Transport and Internal Trade Anita Anand said on X that she’s closely following the incident.

Premier Doug Ford also posted on the platform, expressing his relief that there were no casualties reported. 

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow also expressed her relief.

Transport Canada says it is closely monitoring the incident.

Flights in and out of the airport were suspended for a few hours but have since resumed as of 5 p.m. Air Canada says the incident will have an impact on arrivals and departures from the airport, and urges travellers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
