Police Feud

Rating: NNNNN

police association head craig Bromell’s pissing match with Chief Julian Fantino over police disciplines just got a little wetter.

The police union’s board of directors has passed a motion “to permanently exclude” members of the internal affairs unit, the cops who investigate cops, from the union. The motion is scheduled to be voted on by the rank and file May 15.

To hear Bromell tell it, the 12 officers assigned to the unit don’t want to be there and are only investigating “nickel-and-dime” stuff that senior officers in management could handle.

Bromell says the chief’s for the change. That’s news to superintendent Rober Strathdee, head of internal affairs, who met with chief to discuss the issue just last week. “This is catching us unawares,” Strathdee says of the manoeuvre.
