Renamed Just For Laughs TORONTO festival returns after two years

After an absence of two long years, Toronto’s largest comedy festival – formerly known as JFL42 – returns this fall with a new name, Just For Laughs TORONTO. And the lineup is sure to put a smile on comedy lovers’ faces.

Headliners at the 10-day festival, which runs from September 22 to October 1, include: Trevor Noah, John Mulaney (who has had to cancel Toronto dates multiple times before), Amy Schumer, drag superstars Trixie & Katya (Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova), Iliza Shlesinger, Parks And Recreation actor Ben Schwartz, storyteller supreme Mike Birbiglia, podcast host Tim Dillon and Black-ish star Deon Cole.

Other acts include podcast host and actor Marc Maron, Lady Dynamite’s Maria Bamford, SNL ensemble member Melissa Villaseñor, transfeminine writer, activist and fashion icon ALOK and Fire Island‘s Joel Kim Booster.

The strong Canadian contingent includes Mark Little, Ali Hassan, Sophie Buddle, Al Val, Allie Pearse, Ivan Decker, Courtney Gilmour, Hisham Kelati and a new standup comedy variety show, Got Land?, in which First Nation, Inuk and Metis performers share life stories with humour.

Two high-profile headliners have been announced so far in the festival’s daytime series, ComedyCON. Issa Rae, the creator and star of HBO’s Insecure, will be doing an In Conversation at the festival. And so will actor, SNL alum and the prolific celebrity dater Pete Davidson.

Festival passes (ranging from $69 to $209) go on sale this Friday (June 10) at 10 am at toronto.hahaha.com. Single tickets (ranging from $29.50 to $69.50) will be available to the public on June 17 at 10 am, also at toronto.hahaha.com.
