Sheppard West test

Designs for the Sheppard West and York University subway stations on the planned Spadina subway extension have been approved by the TTC.[rssbreak]

They’ll be officially unveiled at open houses in November, but the TTC was kind enough to provide us with a sneak peek at the Sheppard West station.

The street-level entrance looks lean and green, boasting angled glass walls and a swoosh of a rooftop entirely covered in green.

The big negatory: the new station is slated for lands on Downsview Park.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the station doesn’t form the thin edge of the wedge for a development onslaught at Downsview Park.

Commercial and high-density condo development is already being contemplated for the edges of the park.

What ever happened to those great Central Park visions we had for the miles of greenspace, we gotta ask?
