Toronto is waking up to another round of winter weather, with an Alberta Clipper and a second fast-moving system bringing fresh snowfall to the region, leading to potentially challenging commutes.
On Tuesday, a clipper swept through the city with moderate snow. Overnight, a second system followed, with total accumulations expected to reach up to 10 centimetres by the end of the day, according to Environment Canada. As a result, the agency has issued a snowfall warning for Toronto.
Snow is expected to continue through the morning before tapering to scattered flurries or drizzle by Wednesday afternoon, Environment Canada said.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic,” the agency warned.
City of Toronto crews were out salting roads and sidewalks on Tuesday in preparation for the icy conditions.

While Wednesday’s snowfall may not persist all day, additional systems could move in later this week.
In an interview with Now Toronto on Tuesday, Weather Network Meteorologist Rachel Modestino said the network is tracking a few potential systems that may pass through over the weekend.

She noted they are likely to be light, but Torontonians should still expect some snow on Saturday and Sunday.
Environment Canada’s forecast also calls for a chance of flurries over the weekend.
Despite the ongoing snow, temperatures will remain relatively mild for the rest of the week with daytime highs ranging from –1 C to –5 C throughout the week.
