Breakfast hotspot Sunset Grill is bringing back their annual Pancake Tuesday fundraiser in support of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) after a three-year hiatus.

Locations across Ontario are offering $1 buttermilk pancakes all day Tuesday in honour of Shrove Tuesday, traditionally a day of feast before Catholics begin Lent on Ash Wednesday.

“A $1 contribution will be made to CCS from each Sunset Grill pancake sold to help fund important research and programs for people affected by cancer and their families,” their news release reads.

This year marks the chain’s 13th year hosting the fundraiser.

“Our Pancake Tuesday fundraiser in support of the Canadian Cancer Society has always been an important initiative for our organization,” Founder and CEO of Sunset Grill Restaurants Ltd. Angelo Christou, said in the release. “We are proud to resume the event and welcome new and returning guests to our restaurants for an experience they can count on, in support of a great cause.”

More than $166,000 has been raised for CCS since the launch of Sunset Grill’s campaign in 2009, according to the company.

The $1 offer is for regular pancakes. There is an extra charge for blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes.
