Toronto is just days away from the highly anticipated return of one of the city’s biggest food and cultural festivals, and this year’s Taste of the Danforth is shaping up to be well worth the wait.
After a two-year hiatus, the beloved festival returns to Greektown this weekend, running from Aug. 8 to 10 and transforming Danforth Avenue into a lively celebration of Greek food, music, dance and culture.
The annual event was cancelled for the past two years due to funding challenges and rising operating costs. Now, thousands of visitors are expected to return as the festival once again takes over Danforth Avenue between Broadview and Jones avenues.
In addition to the food, visitors can enjoy live music, cultural performances, family-friendly activities and interactive experiences across the festival grounds.
Festival hours
- Friday, Aug. 8: 6 p.m. to midnight
- Saturday, Aug. 9: Noon to midnight
- Sunday, Aug. 10: Noon to 10 p.m.
Free entertainment
Festivalgoers can enjoy performances across four free entertainment stages:
- The World Stage will feature headline acts, multicultural performances and music from around the globe.
- The Greek Stage will showcase Greek singers, musicians and traditional dance performances celebrating the festival’s roots.
- The RBC Showcase Stage will host a diverse lineup of performances highlighting Toronto’s multicultural communities.
- The OLG Let’s Dance Stage invites visitors to join in the fun, with each program beginning with a 15-minute cultural performance followed by a 15-minute dance lesson where audiences can participate.

Beyond the food and entertainment, the festival will feature several themed activations and family-friendly attractions, including the Sports Zone, Kids’ Fun Zone, Heineken Beer Garden and more.
Getting there
The TTC remains the easiest way to reach the festival.
Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) runs directly through the event, with three subway stations providing convenient access:
- Broadview Station – west end of the festival
- Chester Station – centre of the festival
- Pape Station – east end of the festival
Several surface routes also connect to the area, including the 504 King and 505 Dundas streetcars, the 8 Broadview bus, and the 25 Don Mills and 72 Pape buses.
Some TTC routes will be detoured during the weekend due to road closures, so riders are encouraged to check for service updates before travelling.
