The educated driver

Even before former attorney general Michael Bryant had his fatal run-in with bike courier Darcy Allan Sheppard, at least one councillor was sounding alarm bells about the need for better driver education.[rssbreak]

Councillor Joe Mihevc is urging the city’s cycling and pedestrian committees to push the province for changes to the driver’s education manual “with a view toward a safer and more inclusive road environment for all users.”

The TTC vice-?chair says, “It’s clear to me that drivers need to be better educated about transportation realities and better equipped to share the roads with pedestrians, cyclists and public transit.”
