Mayor Rob Ford has been called many names, but until this week “Rollback Viceroy” was not one of them.
Yet according to local singer Jenny James, he not only deserves that moniker but also “the Taxpayer’s Lord,” “Cost Cowboy,” and “the Money Crusader and Excess Cost Eliminator.”
Those are some of the (apparently 100 per cent serious) lyrics to an original tune performed by James and posted to Youtube on Friday morning. Entitled Mayor Ford (The World Will Remember), the 80’s hair band-inspired tune is already making the rounds online and is already pretty much guaranteed a hallowed place in the ever-growing collection of bizarre Rob Ford lore.
Despite the fact that its no-budget video repeatedly shows a mocked up image of Ford wearing a crown and smoking what appears to be a crack pipe, the song seems to be a genuine show of support for our frequently embattled mayor.
“Blatant attacks won’t make him collapse/Mayor Ford will bounce right back/Mayor Ford, the world will remember,” James shouts in the song’s refrain.
According to her website, James, a self-described “vocal chameleon,” will be performing at the Ford Fest in Scarborough on Friday night.
