The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has dropped its official lineup, with a total of 293 films set to screen during this year’s festival.
The 51st edition of TIFF kicks off on Sept. 10 and runs until Sept. 20, with the full schedule now available for film lovers to start planning their festival experience.
Opening day will feature 75 film premieres, with director Ryûsuke Hamaguchi kicking off the festival with his Special Presentations film All of a Sudden at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10 at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
Canadian stories at TIFF 2026
Of course, it wouldn’t be TIFF without filmmakers and stories from Canada. This year’s lineup includes several films highlighting Canadian stories and figures, including a documentary about Canadian icon Terry Fox.
Run Terry Run, a documentary from Toronto-based filmmaker Sean Menard, will have its premiere on Sept. 11. Meanwhile, Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend, from Quebec filmmaker Yan Lanouette Turgeon, follows the exhilarating career of Gilles Villeneuve, one of Canada’s greatest athletes. The biopic will premiere on Sept. 13.
Now that the full schedule has dropped, movie lovers and festivalgoers can officially begin planning their TIFF festivities, including which films they’ll try to score tickets for, which red carpets they’ll attend and, of course, which celebrities they might spot.
In addition to releasing the full schedule, TIFF also announced 11 additional features on Tuesday, including A Good Little Soldier, Bucking Fastard, Closing Night, It’s My Time, It Will Happen Tonight, Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple, The Idiot(s), The Liberation, The Road Not Taken, Trees are Watching and Wild Horse Nine.
