Seth Rogen, Helen Mirren and Fan Bingbing are among the latest stars set to be honoured at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
TIFF has announced the final recipients of its 2026 Tribute Awards, adding Rogen, Mirren and Bingbing alongside cinematographer Adam Pietkiewicz and filmmaker Bassam Tariq.
The five join previously announced honourees Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar, Siân Heder and Isabelle Huppert.
For Canadian film fans, one of the biggest names on the list is Rogen, who will receive the TIFF Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award. The honour recognizes Canadians whose work has made a global impact, with past recipients including Catherine O’Hara, David Cronenberg and Shawn Levy.
Rogen rose to fame through the television series Freaks and Geeks before starring in comedies such as Superbad, Knocked Up and Pineapple Express. He later co-founded Point Grey Pictures, the production company behind projects including Neighbors and the Emmy-winning Apple TV series The Studio.
He will also return to TIFF this year for the world premiere of Babies, directed by his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen. He is also a producer and voice actor in the animated film Tangles.
Mirren will receive the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award, which celebrates women who have helped advance representation in the film industry.
The Academy Award-winning actor has worked across film, television and theatre for more than five decades. She is best known for roles in The Queen, Prime Suspect, Gosford Park and The Madness of King George. Mirren will appear at this year’s festival in A Talent for Murder, portraying author Patricia Highsmith.
Bingbing will be presented with a TIFF Special Tribute Award recognizing her contributions to film throughout her three-decade career. The Chinese actor and producer returns to the festival with Wayne Wang’s Diary of a Mad Old Man, which will make its world premiere as a Gala Presentation.
Meanwhile, Pietkiewicz will receive the TIFF Variety Artisan Award for his work as a cinematographer. He makes his festival debut with Angh, a 16mm film premiering in TIFF’s competitive Platform programme.
Tariq will receive the TIFF Rising Talent Award as he makes his own festival debut with Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. The film stars Mahershala Ali as a devout family man who is also a contract killer.

“Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother will confirm his reputation as a dazzling storyteller, and we recognize Adam Pietkiewicz for crafting never-before-seen images from one of the world’s most remote regions. And we will be forever grateful to writer, actor, director and producer Seth Rogen for sharing his wildly Canadian talents with the world.”
The eighth annual TIFF Tribute Awards gala will take place on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel. The event is TIFF’s largest annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting its artist development, community engagement and year-round film initiatives.
