TLC, En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa have officially rescheduled their joint tour stop at RBC Amphitheatre after Wednesday’s storm in Toronto forced the iconic girl groups to cancel the show.
’90s girl group fans were preparing to head to RBC Amphitheatre on Wednesday night for TLC, En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa’s “It’s Iconic” tour when severe thunderstorms, hail, flooding and torrential downpours moved through much of southern Ontario.
As a result, the show was cancelled and has now been rescheduled for Sept. 11.
En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa also shared a video from Toronto apologizing to fans after the cancellation, with Salt-N-Pepa’s Cheryl James doing most of the speaking.
“Hey guys, we’re in Toronto. We were so excited about the ‘It’s Iconic’ night in Toronto,” James said. “You guys were coming out in droves. We are so sorry. The weather is not permitting, and the show’s been cancelled.”
James then confirmed the concert had been rescheduled for Sept. 11.
“We’ll be back for it’s iconic, and we apologize. We love you guys so much” she said.
James thanked fans and encouraged them to come back for the rescheduled show.
Fans who purchased tickets for the original Sept. 2 date should hold onto them, as tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled show.
The Toronto stop is part of the “It’s Iconic” tour, bringing three of the biggest acts from ’90s R&B and hip-hop together on one stage.
TLC is known for hits including “No Scrubs,” “Waterfalls” and “Creep,” while En Vogue rose to fame with songs such as “Free Your Mind,” “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Don’t Let Go (Love).” Salt-N-Pepa are behind ’90s classics including “Push It,” “Shoop” and “Whatta Man.”
The rescheduled Toronto date comes just days after TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins was hospitalized following a sickle cell crisis.
According to reports, Watkins is recovering. Fellow TLC member Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas has continued performing at recent shows without T-Boz.
Fans hoping to attend the rescheduled date can still purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.
