What to know
- Wednesday’s thunderstorms brought 50–60 mm of rain and winds reaching about 100 km/h, causing flooding, downed trees, and debris across the region.
- Southbound lanes of the DVP have reopened, while crews work to clear the northbound lanes. Vehicle access through High Park is also closed because of a downed tree.
- All TTC service is running, but numerous bus routes, including the 28, 34, 36, 55, 59, 74, 75, 82, 84, 101, 103, 106, 108, 203, and 984, are experiencing detours or suspended sections due to flooding and blocked roads.
- TTC Lines 1 through 6 are operating again after flooding and blocked-track disruptions, though some trains may be moving slower than usual because of track maintenance. Riders and drivers are advised to use caution and avoid flooded or closed areas.
Following severe thunderstorms in the GTA on Wednesday, those looking to travel around Toronto may still be met with multiple disruptions, as some roads and TTC routes are still closed and facing diversions.
Around 50 to 60 mm of rainfall, along with intense, destructive winds reaching up to around 100 kilometres per hour, led to flooding and debris scattered throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Here’s what is still closed on Thursday due to the flooding and downed trees.
Road closures
The Don Valley Parkway’s southbound lanes from Bayview’s off-ramp to the Don Roadway and Gardiner Expressway West have since reopened after the entire expressway was closed off around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. City crews are still working to clear and open up northbound lanes at some point today.
Those hoping to drive through High Park may be diverted, as vehicle access through the area is currently closed off due to a downed tree.
The City and its partners will continue to monitor road conditions through the day.
They are asking drivers to use caution, avoid closed or flooded areas, and never drive through ponding.

TTC impacts
All service is currently running for TTC riders, although some may have to expect detours and early ends to routes due to road closures and blockages.
28 bus – No service eastbound near Bayview Ave at Moore Ave due to a road closure.
34 – Detour on route eastbound via Berwick Ave, Soudan Ave, and Mt Pleasant Rd due to a blocked road.
34 – Detour eastbound via Duplex Ave, Orchard View Blvd, Yonge St, Berwick Ave and Eglinton Ave due to a blocked road.
36 – Detour via Keele St, Four Winds Dr, Tangiers Rd, York University Busway and Dufferin St due to flooding.
55 – Detour via Gooch Ave and Magwood Crt due to a blocked road.
59 – Detour eastbound via Academy Rd, Chantilly Gdns, Portage Ave, Wall Ave and Langside Ave due to a blocked road.
59 – Detour via Lawrence Ave W and Keele St due to a flood.
74 – Detour northbound via Berwick Ave, Yonge St, Soudan Ave and Redpath Ave due to a blocked road.
75 – Detour southbound via Glen Rd and Elm Ave due to a blocked road.
