The 2026-2027 school year began on Tuesday, and with the excitement and nerves comes a flurry of turbulent forecasts this week.
Despite the shortened week, each school day brings its own challenge for students, going from sunny to stormy.
Here’s what students and guardians should expect.
Tuesday, Sept. 8
Students are starting the year off strong with a nice and sunny day on Tuesday.
Despite some foggy weather in the early morning as some wait for their school bus, the fog will dissipate into clear skies.
Temperatures will peak at around 25 C in the afternoon, when younger students will head out for recess, and will last until just after the day ends. Tuesday’s will hit a low of around 19 C around 11 p.m., when most are in bed.
Wednesday, Sept. 9
Wednesday will see a drastic change from the day before, with skies mostly seeing cloud cover through the day.
Showers will begin just after students get into their schools, at around 9 a.m., and are expected to continue as the day progresses, with a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Winds will gust up to 40 kilometres per hour in the morning, so students should hold onto their umbrellas and backpacks tightly.
Temperatures will reach up to around 27 C and will drop to 15 C at night, with showers continuing into Thursday.
Thursday, Sept. 10
Students should keep their raincoats and umbrellas handy, as the rain will continue on and off through Thursday.
Luckily, there are no thunderstorms in the forecast, but residents can expect a mix of sun and cloud, as well as a 40 per cent chance of showers.
The temperature will reach a high of 22 C and is expected to drop to around 11 C by nighttime.
Friday, Sept. 11
The school week is expected to end just as it began, with sunny and clear conditions on Friday.
The temperatures will reach an expected high of 23 C, and drop to 13 C at night.
