After Tuesday’s unsettled weather, Toronto is in for a cooler, breezier day on Wednesday, with a mix of sun and cloud and only a slight chance of a passing shower.
Environment Canada says temperatures will reach a daytime high of 22 to 23 C, with moderate humidity making it feel closer to 24 C through the afternoon.
A northwest wind of around 20 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h, is expected across Toronto, while communities farther east, including Oshawa, could see gusts as high as 50 km/h.
Although most of the GTA is expected to stay largely dry, there’s still a slight chance of showers in some areas.
Environment Canada is forecasting a 40 per cent chance of showers for Oshawa and Pickering, while rain is also possible in parts of Newmarket, Kitchener, Guelph and Orillia.
Toronto’s forecast, however, remains relatively comfortable, with a mix of sunshine and clouds expected for much of the day and only a minimal chance of precipitation.
The UV index is forecast to reach 7, or “high,” meaning sunscreen is recommended for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
Skies are expected to clear Wednesday evening as winds gradually ease.
Overnight temperatures will dip to around 12 to 15 C, making for a cooler night than the city has experienced in recent days.
The pleasant weather isn’t expected to last long.
Thursday will bring sunny skies and a daytime high of 24 C, followed by another warm and mainly sunny day Friday, when temperatures are expected to climb to around 27 C.
Looking ahead to the weekend, forecasters are watching for a return to more unsettled conditions.
Saturday is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and temperatures approaching 29 C, while Sunday is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and another warm high near 29 C.
For anyone planning to spend time outdoors on Wednesday, the forecast offers a welcome break from Tuesday’s stormier conditions before the heat and humidity begin building again later this week.
