TTC fares will be going up in two weeks for youths and adults in Toronto.

The TTC confirmed single cash and pay-as-you-go PRESTO fares for youths and adults will go up by 10 cents as of Apr. 3.

Cash prices will rise to $3.35 for adults and $2.40 for youths aged 13 to 19, while PRESTO prices will rise to $3.30 for adults and $2.35 for youths.

Transit fees for seniors, Fair Pass transit Discount Program users and monthly pass customers will remain the same.

The fare increase comes after the city approved the proposed rise in prices in its annual budget deliberations last month.

“Revenue from this fare increase, in addition to the City of Toronto’s proposed subsidy to the TTC of $958.7 million, will help us ensure the system is reliable, safe and accessible for all Torontonians,” the TTC said in a news release on Monday.

Last week, Toronto police announced it was scaling back its presence within the transit system as it modified its enhanced security approach.

In January, police started to deploy at least 80 officers daily within the system to address a rise in violent attacks against both riders and employees.

Despite modifying its safety approach, police said additional support will resume if necessary.
