He is now “critically stable,” according to police.

“The only information I can release at this time is that the young victim walked out into the parking lot and was shocked by the suspects,” Inspector with the Integrated Gun & Gang Task Force, Norm Proctor, said to media.

Weston Collegiate Institute and a nearby middle school were placed on lockdown for much of the afternoon following the shooting.

Proctor said it is unclear if the suspects knew the victim personally or had any prior interactions.

The two suspects are said to have driven into the school parking lot around noon, fired multiple shots and fled.

The vehicle used by the suspects was from a carjacking that occurred in Peel Region earlier that day, Proctor said.

The two suspects were arrested Friday morning after a search warrant was executed in Peel Region, police said.

The two teen suspects have both  been charged with attempted murder, among other charges.

They are scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Friday afternoon.
