Of A Monstrous Child: A gaga musical You don’t have to arrive in an egg like Lady Gaga at the Grammys to take in a late night Saturday performance of Alistair Newton’s piece about the Poker Faced pop star and Michael Alig, a.k.a. the Party Monster. Divisadero: A Performance This multimedia adaptation of Michael Ondaatje’s layered novel winds up this weekend. Best bet for tickets is at an added Saturday matinee performance. Theatre Passe Muraille Mainspace. See review here.

TIFF Bell Lightbox Free Weekend Wanting to do something this Family Day long weekend and don’t want to bust the bank? Then take in two days of free programming at the city’s coolest film venue. The Tim Burton and Mary Pickford exhibits are free, as well as the Cinematheque offerings. See it all here.

Unstoppable If the weather gets cold again (boo!), try renting Tony Scott’s reality-based actioner about an out-of-control train and the two guys (played by Denzel Washington and hunky Chris Pine) who try to stop it. Now out on DVD, loaded with informative extras. See review here.

Life As A Legend has artists’ interpretation of the Hollywood icon, while Marilyn In Canada features art that uses her image to comment on the influence of U.S. popular culture on the Great White North.
