What to do today: Sunday May 18

Events

Indoor kids, rejoice! The SuperFan ComicCon is here until tomorrow. Buy comics, anime, memorabilia, video games and more.

Have your photo taken with a random assortment of character actors. Today: Larry Thomas, Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi and Margot Kidder (Lois Lane). And for some CanCon in your ComicCon, Pat Mastroianni, who is of course Joey Jeremiah from the original Degrassi series, will snap a photo with you. Note: Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk) will be available to pose tomorrow only. Details here.

Music

Drew Gonsalves moved to Toronto from Trinidad at the tender age of 12. Now, he’s the frontman of Kobo Town. Malika Tirolien is Guadeloupe-born and Montreal-based. Both are playing tonight at Lula Lounge’s Lulaworld Festival 2014. Learn more here.

Also, from 4 pm onwards, BassLine Music Bar hosts several Irish DJs who will spin house, techno and disco for a 12-hour stretch. Cheap beers, no cover. More here. (The last time they did this, the place was rammed).

Art

If you’re in the Queen West area, breeze through Katharine Mulherin’s new show, The Golden Age by Michael Caines. You’ll like his funny, minimalist and loving portraits of men and dogs. Details here.
