What we’re doing this weekend: June 13 – June 15

Julia LeConte, music editor

NXNE kicked off this afternoon with a BBQ at 159 Manning Ave. I happen to know Michael Rault already played, but she’s still here in the office watching the World Cup as I’m writing this — let’s hope she catches the Golden Dogs and Bizzarh! Then, Luminato hosts Ziggy Marley’s Fly Rasta Tour and Sierra Leone’s Refugee All-Stars tomorrow night at David Pecaut Square.

See listing.

Sunday, she’s braving the red carpet at the Much Music Video Awards, hoping to prove she’s not getting old by recognizing someone (just kidding, lots of famous people will be there).

Glenn Sumi, editor, stage/film

Glenn would normally go to a couple of shows throughout the weekend, but it’s Father’s Day on Sunday, so he’s cramming three into his day tomorrow: Rufus Wainwright, David Byrne, Boy George and Josh Groban will perform duets in If I Loved You: Gentlemen Prefer Broadway and TSO Goes Late Night: Shostakovich Symphony 5.

In the afternoon, Glenn’s also checking out All the Sex I’ve Ever Had: the International Edition by Toronto’s Mammalian Diving Reflex, which details the sex lives of seniors.

Happy Father’s Day, indeed!

Kate Robertson, online and social media manager

I’m worn out from the election, to be honest, but when an opportunity to see the late Pina Bausch’s Kontakthof came up, I decided to pretend to not be tired anymore (Happiness, man. It’s a choice). How could I say no to something that got 5 Ns from Glenn?

You still have time to catch this show tomorrow, too. See listing.
