Why was Lindsay Lohan allowed to smoke indoors?

Samantha Ronson, celebrity DJ to the celebrities, actually spun a decent set on the decks last Friday at the eTalk jam. But more impressive was that Lindsay Lohan, now known as LezLo (or Lezbohan or other variations on her name and ‘lesbian‘), was allowed to smoke indoors the entire night.

If we learned anything from Sean Penn’s Four Seasons smokinggate, it’s that you can’t smoke indoors in Toronto. And the smoking ban was even years before that. By now, half the western world has non-smoking laws. Is it possible no one noticed she was puffing tobacco all night? Or do celebrities get special treatment at celebrity functions?! The small, portable bar that sat next to Lohan all night (except when she asked for it to be removed for photos) suggests the latter.

But the fact that her indoor, bylaw-breaking smoking only made news on a few blogs probably means the TIFF media is over it. And if the TIFF media doesn’t care, does anyone? Recall (or just click on this link) that the Four Seasons only got busted because the dailies threw pictures of Penn lighting up on front pages.

The next smoking photo op comes this Friday, when Ronson plays the INK Film Fest Party at Ultra with LezLo undoubted by her side.
