Reaction is pouring in after thousands of WWE fans in Toronto booed the U.S. anthem during Saturday night’s Elimination Chamber event. The loud boos come amid rising tensions over Trump’s tariff threats and remarks about Canada becoming the 51st state.
The 15th Elimination Chamber took place at the Rogers Centre and featured famous WWE icons such as John Cena and The Rock, among many others.
The WWE Elimination Chamber had a turnout of over 38,000 fans, making it one of Toronto’s most successful wrestling events in years.
Toronto celebrities Drake, Nav, Robbie Amell and Italia Ricci were in attendance and added to the night’s extravaganza.
At the beginning of the event, Canadian singer Elizabeth Irving sang her rendition of the U.S. anthem, which generated loud jeers from the audience.

Videos of the crowd drowning out the anthem in boos have spread on social media, and users are sharing their thoughts.
“Just remember. They are booing Trump not Americans. Big difference,” a user on TikTok said.
“America take this as a warning! Canadians were your best friend and now we feel the need to do this. Ask yourself why this is happening,” another user commented.
“Hmm I wonder why Canada isn’t fond of the anthem of a country that’s currently actively threatening their sovereignty,” a user on Reddit said.
“For every sport event in Canada, they should just stop singing the U.S. anthem,” one user suggested.
Fans booing the U.S. national anthem has become a regular occurrence in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s looming tariffs on Canada, and his remarks about Canada becoming the 51st state. Last month, Canadians booed the American anthem at the 4 Nations hockey game in Montreal and the Raptors game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Trump has threatened 25 per cent tariffs to neighbouring countries – Canada and Mexico. It is set to go into effect as early as tomorrow, but there has been conflicting information on the dates and percentage from both Trump and White House officials.
